Day 12

In a near-repeat of Day 1, only AK and myself were jogging today. Up nice and early, we were soon away and jogging. The tide was much further out today - a considerable way out, which is the way it should be. Completing the first half seemed easy; returning along the second half (i.e. the way back) seemed to take a bit longer. We were almost getting chased by some dogs at one point! Noticed the seating near the 'finish line' being occupied by people (some old, some younger) so I diverted the finish of the course to the final fence, some hundred yards away from our usual finish point. Happy to have finished the jog for the day I posed for the usual pic (on my own, which hasn't happened since Day 1) thinking that AK has hardly appeared in any of the pics (in fact, the only one on file is of Day 2)... considering he takes most of the pictures, it is just the logical conclusion.

Notes: For only the second time ever, only two of us are jogging today. Now that we've entered September this marks the fourth new month of jogging, and we realise that there isn't much of summer to go, so we'll try and get jogging as much as possible in the next few weeks. Further talk of how long this may be going on for - are we reaching the end of "jogging season" or is the best yet to come?

Weather Conditions: Cool, some breeze, fine

Day 11

Today was a magnificently hot day, the 'classic three' were jogging (that's myself, AK & Chris). Parking was a little tougher today, so we ended up parking right outside the little café. In fact, we went into this café beforehand to check out the ???? before walking down to the beach. I had brought with me two bananas and an apple, the former I was eating before the jog. A very good jog followed, a bit more walking than jogging was occuring at times though. Being a very hot day, I personally was tempted to get an ice cream and actually bought one from the café along with a refreshing can of Sprite at the end of the jog. The tide was so in, we had to climb virtually every fence and even get up onto the Stray part (the paving) around the half-way point. At that point we stopped for a breather and I ate my apple.

Notes: Chris also present. The tide was very much in - seems to depend on the weather and not the time. (CHECK DATE, AMEND ACCORDINGLY)

Weather Conditions: Very hot, sunny, little breeze

Day 10

We met up early on this morning, around 10:30am. Once we had all got down to the beach we began warming up as usual before heading on down to jog. The weather was nice. It was starting to get hot, but in the meantime the breeze was most definitely welcome and keeping us cool. Huw joined us. This was a totally run of the mill jog, no complaints though. The tide was totally coming in though!

Notes: Huw joins us again, Chris couldn't make it.

Weather Conditions: Warm, some breeze, sunny

Day 9

After a long hiatus (of nearly two weeks) we finally returned for this, the ninth day of jogging. We'd chosen a fine day weather-wise, despite the near threat of rain from gathering dark clouds, it turned out there was nothing to worry about and the sun even started to make an appearance during the second half of our jog.

We warmed up as usual and began jogging. Huw joined AK & myself again and there seemed to be a bit of running at times, but mostly jogging. Huw had a tendency to jump over things a lot (the highest point of the fence posts, rocks, streams, you name it... we were discussing a movie Huw had watched and had been somewhat influenced). At the half-way stage we took time out to once again play with the Frisbee (see also Days 2 & 6). This lasted for about fifteen minutes as we threw the frisbee to each other. We tended to get better as time progressed, working out how the wind was affecting the throw.

We got back to the jogging business after that, although a game was played where this time we were moving while throwing a tennis ball to each other. We were lucky the ball never went into the sea (although Huw had to rescue it from the tide at one point). At this point we noticed the tide was drastically coming in, we were losing beach space and had to climb over each fence post whereas coming the other way we'd gone round most of them.

We felt a bit tired after today's jog, mainly because we had not jogged for nearly two weeks. I personally felt as if I was over-exerting myself today with the jog—in a positive way—refusing to stop until we'd made it to certain posts on the beach.

Notes: Frisbee played for third time. Huw joined us for a second time, looking as though he could be the next permanent member (along with Chris who is currently away). Just for clarity, every jog has AK & Rich present. Others present are specified in each entry.

Weather Conditions: Mild temperature becoming warmer; light breeze, sunny spells in later parts

Day 8

Day 8 saw a true return to form as we were back on the beach and the weather was reasonable. The tide was out and we were all ready to get jogging again after more than a week's absence. Today Huw and Mark joined AK and me for the first time. Once we'd reached the all-important halfway stage (the point at which we turn back) we decided to jog on a little further, seeing as we were getting our breath back rather quickly. There seemed to be some sprinting and running going on between certain parties while leaping over streams of water was also attempted to keep the fun going. We stopped at major posts and continued jogging again when we got our breath back, walking when possible instead of coming to a complete stop. At the end the usual picture was taken (hooray).

Notes: Started to jog a bit further on from the usual halfway point. Huw and Mark join in for the first time.

Weather Conditions: Dull sky, mild, slight breeze

Day 7

Day 7 saw abysmal weather in the form of heavy rain, preventing us from jogging on the beach. On the way back the sun typically made an appearance so plan 'B' was to go to the local park for a jog. There were clear pathways in which to jog on, though a distinct lack of markers as seen on the beach which help us stop/start at consistent intervals. While AK and Dave ran off in a sort of race, I followed my own path in the opposite direction keeping a good pace going, together with the usual stopping/starting. After twenty minutes I decide to look for AK and Dave and eventually catch up with them. Overall the experience didn't feel as effective as jogging on the beach. This is definitely the first and hopefully the only time weather has beaten us (despite extensive planning) causing us to instigate plan 'B'.

Notes: No Chris for the first time since Day 1. Dave joins us for the first time. Also, the first time we've jogged somewhere other than the beach. No picture taken at end, sparking debate about whether it was a 'true jlog event'.

Weather Conditions: Heavy rain and cold, followed by brighter and drier spells

*** It is still being debated whether this jog is eligible for inclusion in this jlog—due to different surroundings, lack of 'togetherness' and most of all, no "picture of proof" was taken at the end of the run. ***

Day 6

Day 6 saw the next jog take place, this time with a fourth person in the group. Koh joined us while on a visit, and hot weather forced us to apply sun cream.

The tide was most definitely out today, yet we were jogging at the usual time of day. It was beneficial not having to stop to climb over the fenceposts each the end of each length. At the halfway stage we stopped to play with the frisbee as we had done on Day 2. The breeze, however, was detrimental to the frisbee being thrown in certain directions.

Some of us were feeling the strain today, but carried on nonetheless. I fitted that description, and as such probably didn't get my full potential out today; I had felt this the previous day.

Notes: Frisbee played again during a break

Weather Conditions: Sunny, hot, moderate breeze, cool at times
